Ecological surveys are seasonal so we always recommend staying one step ahead and checking our Survey and Mitigation Calendars to make sure your projects avoid costly delays.

Great Crested Newts are protected under UK legislation. If you have a pond on site or within 500m or suitable terrestrial habitat you may need to conduct Great Crested Newt (GCN) surveys.

In addition to the traditional survey techniques detailed on our GCN pages, we also offer eDNA services which is effectively an analysis of water samples to check for DNA of GCN. Again, these surveys are seasonal and should be conducted between mid-April and the end of June.

Darwin Ecology undertake a range of GCN surveys each year and have a number of staff with GCN survey and mitigation licences.

We are approaching GCN survey season and recommend booking in your surveys now to avoid costly delays to your project.
